I saw this post. So touching lehx... Duman High's NCOs wrote this to their batch (sec 2; training squad). Why our ma'am never said something like that to us before?? haiz... I'm day dreaming away...
Being a training squad is not an easy task.
The phrase training squad comes with high expectations, good drill, good pt and good squad bonding. Most importantly, you will need to have confidence in your own abilities. Confidence that you can achieve all these expectations that come with the phrase training squad. This will surely help you through your training year.
The term training year comes with long hours of drills and pts, endurance, determination, discipline, scolding and buckets of sweat.
We may have been your squad NCOs for a very short period of time only, we do not know each and every single one of you personally, but we have been with you since you stepped into NPCC. From when you were in sec 1, with us leading you through your leisure camp, to when you were in sec 2, with us seeing you lead the new sec 1 through your second camp, and now, as a training squad, training to be the next batch of NCOs.
You may think that it is still too early to call you NCOs to be, but is it really? We don't think so. A year, it seems so long, but in a year, how many training activities do you have? In just this number of trainings, you all have to be trained to be the next batch to lead the unit to greater heights. You all have to be trained to have excellent pt, perfect drills and of course to fully grasp hold of campcraft.
There is still a lot more to learn in this whole year. But however much there is to learn, the main focus of a training squad is still drills and pt. if you all have noticed our RO when we were the training squad, it always seems to be drill and pt, drill and pt. be prepared for this. It may seem boring, doing the same old thing every activity. But it is really for your own good. It may seem cliché. But think, at the end of it all, who will be the ones with better endurance, a higher level of pt, good drills and better discipline? You.
We have gone through our training year already. We know what it is like to be training and training forever. But during yesterday's interaction, many of you said that the best part about NPCC is your squadmates. So training with your squadmates, enduring with them, running with them, cheering with them, drilling with them should not be too hard. Every time you find training unbearable, think, who are those with you, around you? Your squadmates.
In this training year, you will probably hear a lot from NCOs and CIs telling you to treasure your squadmates. Why? Because they are the ones with you always during activities, running or drilling. They are the ones who sweat with you, change with you and endure with you. Use your squadmates as a source of motivation. And nothing will seem too difficult to achieve.
For all those who are planning on leaving Dunman High for other schools' integrated programs, we really hope that you will reconsider. Leaving Dunman High means leaving NPCC, leaving your squadmates behind. Do you really want to? Does NPCC really have nothing that can make you stay? Are your squadmates not a reason to stay? Are you all really willing to quit just like that, before you have gone through training camp and NCO training course to know you limits, before you all become NCOs? We really do not know. But we just hope that you will stay and keep your squad strength as 26. I'm sure your squadmates feel that too.Your squad strength is small. 26. Make full use of this small squad. Having a small squad means easier to coordinate your bangs, hand swings and dressing. It also means an easier time to maintain your squad formation during pt. dun let a small number pull you down. Quality is what we need in NPCC, not quantity. Remember that.
Good pt and drills are no doubt important. But what are the most important are the willingness to learn and a positive attitude. Like Quanrui sir told us when we were a training squad, begin with the end in mind. Take some time to think, where do you want to be after you training year? To just fiddle through it? Or to make full use of it? It is really up to each and every one of you. It is your attitude and passion towards NPCC that will make you who you will be in the future. We hope that all of you are in NPCC not just because it is your CCA, but because it is where you learn new things, it is where you gain experiences, and it is where your passion lies. It is your attitude at the beginning of a journey, which more than anything else will affect how successful the outcome will be.
We have just become your squad NCOs, we are still learning the ropes. If you all have any feedback about the way we train you all or whatsoever, just voice it out. We want to train a squad that is vocal, not a squad that follows blindly.
Your training year as a training squad has just started. It is a journey that seems so never-ending, but is actually just so short. This journey may not be an easy journey, but at the end, you are the ones who gain from the trainings and experiences. Treasure this year. Treasure your squad. You will never live to regret.
It is always good to end a journey, but at the end, what matters most is the journey.
The end. So touching right? I cried... Although it's not to us. But this doesn't only apply to training squad or DHNP. Parts of it also applies to us. That's why I posted here to share with all of you :) But hor... The part where they say that their squad strength is only 26 hor... Is so funny! WAHA.. They 26 very small meh? If they are small then we are puny. But 'quality is what we need. Not quantity' haha... TREASURE YOUR SQUADMATES!! That's the most important thing. except that... *ahemahem* Shan't say it. My blood will start boiling again. haha...
Actually I posted this on my family blog. But then my sis say I very stupid. Since I want to share with all of you so should post on squad blog mahx... So here I am :) Imagine if one day our NCOs (or even ex) tell us something like that... WahH... (It'll never happen) kk BYE!
